A Woody - Aromatic fragrance by Céline Ellena
A spectacular encounter between Vetiver and Sea Salt
A pinch of salt, a few drops of rain and some Vetiver which has dried under the sun: this is the story of Sel de Vétiver.
“A fleeting image seen on a rainy day in an African shop, amongst a happy mess of jute canvas bags, piles of bright coloured fabrics, and glazed earthenware pots from which some plaited vetiver roots are peeking through. I rub the roots between my fingers and a sour and dry scent, almost burning, escapes and impregnates my hands. I associate this scent to the surrounding smell of humid rain, the musky smell of raw sold batiks, tensed up by starch, the smell of the different dyeing baths, and finally to the smell of spices and not so matured fruits that have a brackish smell. I wish to capture this instant and I imagine a salty harmony, both sour and smooth, sensual and fresh, which would remind of the smell of the skin after a sea bath, when the salt molecules stay prisoners and the water has evaporated under the heat of the sun.” Céline Ellena.
